The Knauf Law Office

At TKLO, honesty, diligence and service are combined to deliver successful representation.

Over my twenty plus years as a civil litigation attorney, I have handled a wide variety of cases. I have been involved in everything from real estate disputes, interference with business opportunities and theft of intellectual property to a trespass of land by a neighboring tree and destruction of property by a poorly monitored canine. I like to tell people that I am good at fighting over money and defending people when others come to take their money away.

It is often easier to list the types of cases I don’t handle. I don’t want to fight over kids or get involved with a divorce. There are far too many feelings involved. I don’t represent people in immigration, criminal matters, defend against the IRS or handle bankruptcies, but I know good lawyers that do. I will refer you to one of them.

The Knauf Law Office

I like it when I can provide my clients with a decent rate of return. I want my clients to know that the time and money they invest with me will likely result in money in their bank accounts. It feels great when you prevail at trial, but despite what you might hear on TV, the civil legal system is a poor venue for seeking justice. It’s a system much better suited to get money to exchange hands. That is why I often counsel against pursuing cases when it doesn’t make sense economically. I think it is unwise to put good money after bad, even when you are right or the other side is wrong. There is a big difference between getting a judgment against someone and collecting on that judgment. Collectability is as an important factor to consider pre-suit as potential liability.

I think it is important for an attorney to not only be a strong advocate in pursuing money owed to clients, but to also be a counselor helping clients understand the best use of their resources.
